I read “The Tomten” (by Astrid Lindgren and illustrated by Harald Wiberg) to my little brother when I was growing up and adored it as much as he did. Before I had my first baby, I bought “The Tomten” and “The Tomten and the Fox”. I considered them essential items for a new family. I have enjoyed reading “The Tomten” and “The Tomten and the Fox” to my children. The stories are gentle and the illustrations are soft and beautiful. The Tomten, who guards the farm at night, does so with kindness and care. The Ostheimer sitting fox and an Ostheimer dwarf make a great companion to Astrid Lindgren’s books.
